M.E.F. English: fun, creative E.S.L. classes for pre-K - 4 education

What It Is
M.E.F. English is a growing E.S.L. / E.F.L. children's school in Japan. It specializes in outsourcing experienced English teachers to preschools and primary schools for in-class and after school programs.

What I Did
Working with M.E.F. was the culmination of my 10 years of teaching experience. Combining curricula development, sales strategy, auditorium teaching and teacher training, it was the most challenging and rewarding teaching job I ever had. Although I'm no longer pursuing jobs in education, I know that the skills I learned there can be applied directly to managerial roles in other industries.

Curricula Development - Creative, inter-disciplinary, cohesive lesson plans must be prepared in advance, just like any project roadmap. Now visualize that process  a year in advance, and multiply it by 7 grades at a time and you get a project roadmap as detailed as any in the hi-tech world. At M.E.F. we meticulously designed the yearly curricula, ensuring scaled development, measurable progress and student enjoyment.  It made our program effective, fun and easy to sell.

Sales Strategy - Sales is sales.  It requires you to know your customer, know your product and effectively communicate why your product best serves their needs. Working with the M.E.F. sales team I did just that. I  personally signed over 20 new schools, effectively expanding the program to reach over 8,000 new students and achieved the #1 sales position.

Teaching - You need people skills and communication skills to effectively lead in the classroom, the same is true for the corporate environment. I have a highly polished set of both skills that I honed with daily practice, teaching class sizes from 2 - 200.  That's why I was the company's most popular teacher - boasting the most students in regular classrooms and after school programs - and that's why I was the only teacher trusted to develop and pioneer the new summer school program.
